Here’s the Schedule for the Winter/Spring 2017 Music and Dance Series at the Irondequoit Library

musicnoteThe Irondequoit Public Library has booked several talented performers for our Winter/Spring 2017 Music and Dance Series… and we hope you can join us!

Whether you’re interested in ukuleles, dulcimers, or a jazzy arrangement of Rage Against the Machine, we promise that these musicians are like nothing you’ve ever heard.

The Rochester Ukulele Orchestra Local musicians will perform a smattering of music, from folk and classical, to pop and rock, on their ukuleles. Don’t miss this unique concert!

The Striking Strings Hammered Dulcimer Ensemble Under the direction of Mitzie Collins and Linda Taggart, a dozen musicians will perform folk tunes and songs from Ireland, Scotland, and Western New York on hammered dulcimer, fiddle, bass, penny whistle, flute, and accordion.

Andy and Judy The husband and wife duo from Bridgewater, Massachusetts will perform original songs and well-known folk music from John Prine, Bob Dylan, Ian and Sylvia, and Peter, Paul & Mary.

St. Patrick’s Day Performance by Boland School of Irish Dance Join us on St. Patrick’s Day for a performance by dancers from the Boland School of Irish Dance. The School promotes Irish culture through teaching Irish dances and music and its students are well known throughout Rochester.

Eastman School of Music Students Everyone is welcome to a concert of classical music performed by talented Eastman students.

The Rita Collective Performs World Jazz A local chamber group that plays original and world music with a jazz slant on bass clarinet, marimba, acoustic bass, and percussion. Listen to melodies from the Middle East or Africa, re-invented jazz tunes, and re-imagined pop tunes from Rage Against the Machine, or the Beatles.

A Concert by the Irondequoit Community Orchestra A group of Irondequoit musicians perform selections of classical music conducted by Russ Thomas. An annual library tradition!

The Gibbs Street Guitar Duo “From Bach to Brazil—Musical Masterpieces for Two Guitars”

Two faculty members from the Eastman School of Music will perform works of Bach, Lhoyer, Tedesco, and Gnatalli written for two guitars.
