starwarsreadsdayYou don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to enjoy Star Wars.

Come and join us on Friday, October 7, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM for Star Wars-themed games and crafts. Follow “The Path of the Jedi” to earn a special prize.

The Path of the Jedi
Stop by the Training HQ to get your worksheet, and complete your training by doing three activities. Once you’ve completed your training, bring your sheet to the Jedi Council to receive your prize.

  • Knock Down a Stormtrooper – It’s like bowling, but with Stormtroopers instead of bowling pins.
  • Lightsaber Practice – Use a Lightsaber to destroy as many bubbles as you can!
  • Destroy the Death Star – Try to toss the bean bag into the jar to destroy the Death Star!
  • Flight Training – Fly a paper airplane through the asteroid belt without hitting anything!
  • Make Origami Yoda and Darth Vader – Use the instructions and pre-cut paper to make your own Jedi or Sith pal!
  • Tosche Coloring Station – Not just for buying power converters, but also a place to relax and color.
  • Make a Bookmark – Use the Aurebesh language and write your name on a bookmark! Or create your own Star Wars design!
  • Photo Frenzy – Take a picture with a Star Wars character or with the provided props.
  • Who Said It? – Read the quote, then see if you can guess who said it.
  • Admiral Ackbar’s Snackbar – Enjoy a tasty snack!
  • Book Display – Check out some books that are out of this galaxy!

Star Wars Writing Contest
Also, don’t forget to enter the writing contest! Tell us who you think the best Star Wars character is, and why. This contest is open to the Rebel Alliance and members of the Galactic Empire. We will select the most impressive essays from children, teens, and adults of 500 words or less. Send your submissions electronically (with your name and age) to irondequoit@libraryweb.org by October 9.
