Talking Circles and the Art of Listening

Some Missing Mansions of East Avenue with Don Hall

Rochester’s East Avenue, between Alexander and Colby Streets, remains one of the best preserved gateway streets entering any city in the United States. Still, about half of the millionaires’ homes that lined the avenue have disappeared. Through the use of historic and contemporary photos, Don contrasts vanished East Avenue with the present, covering the adaptive re-use of many fine homes and providing information on seven local architects who designed half of ​these fabulous houses.

A Concert by HochStrings Adult Chamber Orchestra

Where: Irondequoit Public Library at Lake Ontario/Densmore Creek/Irondequoit Bay Meeting Room (#113 + #114 + #115)

HochStrings in the Hochstein School’s adult chamber orchestra. HochStrings is founded and directed by Pia Liptak and is entering its 5th season in 2017-18. The members are experienced students from the Rochester area who form an ensemble of about 10-12 violin, viola and cello players. The orchestra performs three times annually at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and also enjoys playing concerts in the community. Concert venues have included the Churchville-Chili Community Music Festival and the Seneca Zoo Park. The group has also collaborated with French Road elementary School where the orchestra performed a collaborative, inter-generational concert with the school’s chamber orchestra of children.

Poetic Moments: Your Memoirs in Poetry with Marna Rossi
