Busy, Busy, Busy. Since opening the doors in September, the New Irondequoit Public Library has been very busy.

Between September 1st and December 31st…

  • 195,986 Items were loaned to customers, a 26% increase over the same period last year.
  • 133,107 People visited the new library, a 34% increase over the same period last year.
  • 351 Reservations were taken for meetings and events held by various clubs, community groups, and businesses in library meeting rooms (and when you add in all the people that used a meeting room without needing a reservation, this number jumps to over 700).
  • 12 Workshops and Classes have been held in the Maker’s Lab with 55 people attending. All were supervised uses of the 3D printer and other equipment and tools. We are still educating ourselves on the capabilities of all the equipment in the Maker’s Lab, but hope to be able to offer unsupervised use eventually.

You can always keep up with the latest events at the library by following our Online Event Calendar, Facebook, or Twitter.

Monroe County residents can find approximately 167,000 books, magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, and video games on the shelves of the new library. And it’s a good thing too, as we’re well on our way to becoming the busiest library in the county in 2016. So stop in anytime!
