Join us this Thursday, June 22, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM for the 2017 Summer Reading Kickoff. We’ll have food and craft programs and a 3D Printer demonstration and the chance to meet Waldo (if you can find him)!

Kids and Teens can also sign up for the Summer Reading Club. Students in Preschool through 12th Grade can participate in the Summer Reading Club from June 22nd through August 18th. You can earn books and prizes by reading 30 minutes a day, participating in a library program, or completing a suggested activity.

Summer Reading Club For Kids and Teens – Rules
1. Each symbol (construction cone, paintbrush, wrench, etc.) on the Gameboard equals one day of reading or other learning activity. For each day that you either read 30 minutes, participate in a library sponsored program or complete one of the suggested activities, you can cross off one symbol. You may do more than one activity in a day, but you can only cross off one symbol each day.

2. Once you’ve crossed off 7 symbols, bring your Gameboard to the library and claim your voucher. Our Summer Reading volunteers will be happy to stamp your Gameboard, and each voucher can be used for ONE of the following:

  • A prize from the Treasure Chest
  • One item from the Library Bookstore ($2 or less in value)
  • A Raffle Ticket for one of the Grand Prizes offered that week
  • A donation to Flower City Habitat for Humanity (donations provided by Summit Federal Credit Union)

Summer Library Club For Adults – Rules
Adults can also participate in the fun from June 22nd through August 18th with the Summer Library Club. Here’s how to enter the Summer Library Club:

1. Read a book and/or watch a DVD (that you haven’t read or seen before).

2. Record the number of pages or number of minutes using a Submission Form at the library or our Online Submission Form.

  • 100 Pages in a Book = 1 Inch
  • A 120-Minute Film = 1 Inch
  • A Donation = 4 Inches

3. Our goal is to reach beyond the library’s height (47 feet) and aim for the Xerox Tower (443 feet)!

4. Please consider donating items to benefit Saint’s Place, a local charity that furnishes apartments for refugees in the Rochester area with all of the necessary items to create a home (furniture, kitchen, utensils, linens, etc).

5. If the community helps us build high enough, EVERYONE who participates will win Bookstore Gift Certificates, Library Hold Cards, and other prizes!
